Luggage Policy
Definition of Luggage
Luggage is defined as an item used to pack personal belongings for travel, including hard-case or soft cloth suitcases, duffel bags, and backpacks.

Oversized or overweight luggage will be charged at standard cargo rates.
Check-in Requirements
- •All luggage must be checked in at least 15 minutes prior to departure with a uniformed SPBE employee.
- •Luggage not checked in will not be the responsibility of San Pedro Belize Express.
- •Upon check-in, luggage is tagged with a color-coordinated tag and tracking number.
- •Passengers must use their tag to claim luggage upon arrival.
Luggage Tag Colors
Do NOT Pack in Checked Luggage
Cash, camera equipment, jewelry, medication, eyeglasses, legal documents, antiques, computers, electronics, and other valuables or irreplaceable items.
Prohibited Items:
Sharp objects, weapons, explosives, hazardous materials, and illegal substances.
Liability & Limitations
- •SPBE is not responsible for minor damage such as cuts, nicks, scratches, or normal wear from handling and sea transport.
- •Liability for lost or damaged checked baggage is limited to the actual value, not to exceed $50 USD per passenger.
- •No liability assumed for fragile, perishable, or valuable items packed in checked luggage.
- •Items marked "D" at check-in indicate pre-existing damage — no liability assumed.
Storage Fee: Luggage left behind will automatically incur a $5 BZD overnight storage fee.
Pet Travel
🐾 San Pedro Belize Express is a pet-friendly company!
- •Pets must travel in a proper carrying bag or kennel (safety regulation).
- •Pets must weigh under 90 lbs.
- •Receive a $2.50 USD discount when your pet travels with its own kennel.
- •Kennels are available at each port upon advance request.
- •Service dogs must check-in with cargo and show certifications.
- •Service dogs may travel without a kennel after certifications are validated. No kennel fee applies.

Cargo Services
- •Cargo is limited to small/lightweight freight not exceeding 150 lbs.
- •All items must be properly packaged and checked in 30 minutes before scheduled departure.
- •San Pedro Belize Express does NOT transport cash.
